Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas is undergoing an exciting transformation this spring with a significant expansion to its non-smoking casino, according to updates shared on the Facebook page from Cruise Director Mitch.
Non-Smoking Casino Expansion
The ship’s popular non-smoking casino is being enlarged to accommodate increased demand from guests who prefer a smoke-free gaming environment. The expansion will take over the current Attic comedy venue space, which will be vacated as all comedy shows are moved to the Royal Theater. This move allows the casino to grow without displacing core guest areas.
Crown Lounge Relocation
As part of the renovations, the Crown Lounge—an exclusive space for Crown & Anchor Society members—is being relocated to Deck 16. The new lounge will take over part of the teen club’s footprint. Royal Caribbean has noted that the current teen area is unused to capacity, making the shift a practical and efficient repurposing of space. Teens will still have their dedicated area, just slightly more streamlined.
Smooth Renovation Process
The enhancements will be completed in carefully planned stages to minimize disruption and ensure that all affected venues remain open and operational. Royal Caribbean expects the Utopia of the Seas work to be fully completed by June 2nd.
Changes Coming to Wonder of the Seas
Similar renovations are also slated for Wonder of the Seas this summer. As the ship transitions into the 3- and 4-night cruise market from Miami, she will undergo updates similar to those on Utopia, including an expanded non-smoking casino and potential lounge reconfigurations. These changes are part of Royal Caribbean’s commitment to evolving its ships to better suit guest preferences and emerging cruising trends.
These thoughtful upgrades reinforce Royal Caribbean’s ongoing dedication to enhancing onboard experiences while maintaining the balance of fun, comfort, and innovation for which the brand is known.
